A Refreshing Aesthetic
If you’re sick of dark and dingy coffee houses masquerading as cozy, then the unique and independent Wyatt’s Coffee shop in downtown Gainesville is a breath of fresh air you so desperately need.
In fact, before we get on to their vast selections of teas and coffees, the aesthetic of the place bears mentioning too. Spotless, crisp, and full of natural light are all adjectives used to describe Wyatt Coffee, and it is little wonder as you will find a clean and spacious shop, front and back.
In fact, you can expect a vintage apothecary vibe, complete brown capped bottles, and Victorian subway tiles. Also, there is all manner of cold drip equipment that looks like it wouldn’t be out of place in a science experiment as well.
Although, the cleverly worked decor magic means that it doesn’t feel old fashioned at all. Instead, Wyatt’s Coffee has a distinctly modern and pleasant feel.
Reminiscent, perhaps of some of the coffeeshops in hipper parts of European cities such as Berlin or Budapest?
These details are then complemented by the classic french blue and periwinkle tones on the walls, and the warm wood running along the bar. Even the Wyatt Coffee’s logo, a large sans serif W in a deep shade Breton blue oozes class.
There is, of course, seating as well as a bar where you can make your order. Although do be warned at busier times, it can be tough to find a place to rest your weary feet!
In fact, this may be due to the fact that Wyatt’s is a locale popular with both the student crowd and freelancers. Although, those of us looking for a cozy nook in which to curl up with a good book are assured of a warm welcome there as well.
The good news here is that they do takeout, so if it does happen to be busy in the seating area, you can always grab a drink to go and find seating outside.
Now we have covered the vibe of Wyatt’s Coffee Shop in Gainesville, let’s get onto the other pressing matters. Namely, the delicious drinks they have on offer.
In fact, one of the things that so many customers love about Wyatt’s Coffee is the vast selection they have on their menu. Not just of coffee beans, which they source from local roasters, but of coffee methods, and hand-blended teas as well.
They even have a smaller but equally good selection of wine and beers for people that would prefer these over a caffeinated treat.
Of course, it’s coffee that’s in the name, and it’s their coffee that they are perhaps best known for. The reason for this being is that you can have it brewed just about any way possible.
Which does beg the question, which should you try first? Well, if you are looking for a robust flavor and the added fun that you get to depress the plunger in the cafetiere yourself, then the French press variety is perfect. Ooh, la la!
Then there is the little cup with that pack a big punch or espresso as it’s also known. This being what is used as the base for the longer milker coffees like macchiato lattes.
Actually, the lattes are definitely worth a special mention here as they have been described by happy customers as ‘foamy and delicious.’
Oh, and combine that with the fact that they come with homemade syrups in flavors like vanilla and honey, and you can see why they are one of the most popular items on the menu whether served hot or iced.
The thing is the selection on offer doesn’t stop there at Wyatt’s. This is because they pride themselves on using the most effective and up-to-date coffee making methods there are.
Also, they can provide their customers with a cup as unique as their surroundings.
With that in mind, the next time you visit Wyatt’s, you’ll want to treat yourself to a cold brew, pour-over, immersion, or even a drip coffee. In fact, Wyatt uses a Japanese version of the cold brew technique, which allows for a mellow and unique flavor but is cooled so quick you don’t get any of the bitterness.
Oh, and the nitro version is a particular favorite with regulars who want that extra caffeine hit!
Then there is the extensive tea selection that Wyatt’s offer as well. Many of which are sourced locally from TeBella Tea in Tampa. If you are looking for a delicate and elegant blend, then there white tea made from the youngest leaves on the tea plant is an excellent choice.
However, for those searching for a more robust experience, black tea, or even the naturally low caffeine Robbios teas, of course, you’ll find a wide selection of green and herbal teas at Wyatt’s, as well. They even run a ‘name of the day competition’ from time to time, which means if your name is the one chosen, your beverage is free! Nice!
Lastly, there is one other factor that matters when choosing where to get your coffee, and it’s a service provided by the staff and baristas. After all, it doesn’t matter how great the coffee is if it’s served with a sullen expression.
Fortunately, you won’t find any hide nor hair of this at Wyatt’s Coffee. In fact, unlike many independent coffee establishments that put off visitors with surly baristas and less speedy perfect service, you’ll find the opposite at Wyatt.
That is an independent coffee house with fast service, and staff only too happy to help you make the correct selection from the impressive range on offer. The employees at Wyatt’s absolutely don’t mind explaining how all the different coffee processes work either.
In fact, you’ll find they take pride in doing so. Of course, it’s combined with the unique surroundings and vast selection of beverages on offer, which means you certainly don’t want to miss visiting Wyatt’s Coffee.
